*** Franklin Square Family In Need ***
Hello Franklin Square Community. The FSCA has been made aware of an unfortunate situation regarding a family whose child attends Washington Street School. The family of four, including one child in pre-k at Washington Street School, and twin baby girls at home, suddenly and tragically lost their father this past weekend, leaving behind mom and her three children. Several parents from Washington Street School have started to collect items for the family, along with starting a go-fund-me campaign for this family to help them out monetarily as well.
If anyone is interested in helping out this family, they are in need of the following:
- Diapers - Size 4 and 5
- Baby Wipes
- Gerber Baby food and Fruits (just no carrots)
- Gerber Puffs
- Yogurt Melts
- Other items such as toys are also always appreciated by the children, especially for the pre-k boy.
Items can be dropped off and left on the porch at 67 Pacific Street in Franklin Square, or dropped off at another WSS mom's house, also left on the porch at 723 Iris Street in Franklin Square.
Additionally, donations will be accepted at the FSCA general meeting on June 20th at 7pm at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel
If you would like to consider donating monetarily, please visit the go-fund-me campaign site here: https://www.gofundme.com/natashabennet
Any and all donations of any type are very much appreciated by the family during this hard time.
On behalf of the FSCA board, and all our members, our hearts and prayers go out to the family.
We had a good turnout at the Kiwanis Club Franklin Avenue Street Fair this year despite the cloudy and unseasonably cool weather. The Franklin Square Civic Association gave out bubbles to all the kids, and had a raffle for a colorful hanging flower pot. Thank you to our members who helped staff our booth, and talk to all the folks in the community who stopped by. Surrounded by the rest of our community organizations including Friends of the Franklin Square Library, The Franklin Square Chamber of Commerce, Franklin Square Civilian Patrol, Central Nassau County Rotary club and The Franklin Square Historical Society, a great time was had by all. Lots of great conversations with the many folks who stopped by our booth as well as some new memberships. We look forward to doing this again at the Fall Street Fair as well. Be on the lookout for new upcoming events including some summer events, the FSCA Annual Fall Festival, and the FSCA Annual Winter Festival. We look forward to seeing everyone at our events and general meetings!
